That’s a great option to have, but I live on a small island not in a city.
IMO most purchased “topsoil” sold in bags is only fit for spreading on bare patches of lawn that need reseeding.
I usually end up buying a yard of so called “topsoil” (really bark + sand), then I mix the manufactured soil with 25% compost and 25% - 30% real dirt from the upper section of my property. The dirt from the upper section of my property contains less clay and some rock, which when finely screened is not bad soil. The native soil here on my lower elevation of the property is too heavy with clay for my wet climate. So I mound my fruit trees and mix 25 -30% of the screened native soil from my upper section with purchased soil and some compost. This seems to give a balance that my new fruit trees like. Not too heavy, and not too light, with good nutrients provided by the actual/real/screened soil.
