Barred Owls for rodent control

Fortunately our Great Horned Owls keep nesting year after year in the trees nearby. I hear them most nights in the fall and winter. Such a fun thing for the kids to experience and it brings me joy knowing they are managing the squirrels and chipmunks for me. We saw them before sun-down in the spruce right beside us last summer.

No Barred Owls talking near us but I know they can’t be too far.

My wife helps with banding Northern Saw-whets and I think it was last year they had a Screech Owl visit. Fun stuff, I might get to go one of these years. The pictures are cool enough.
