Beauty Plum

@dpps
I’m in zone 10. Nearly all the wood removed were vertical whips that grew 4’-8’ last summer. I did not remove any wood esp. fruit spurs that produced fruit this year, except for some 3" diameter side branches threatening to expand ever-outward. I’m sure it will bloom and likely set fruit.

JohnS did you use pruning paint after grafting?

On budding, no. On whip and tongue, yes. I wrap them with a rubber band to hold them together tightly. Then I cover it with grafting seal/pruning paint/Doc Farwell’s, etc.

Janet stewed plums for baking on meats (e.g. chicken & fish) in the future and strained off 6 cups of juice. Tonight I put it to use in 10 jars of jelly.

Oh, how did you like the juice from Beauty? I’ve been wanting to juice it.

@murky
It’s very good as a condiment; e.g. frozen in ice cube trays. From there it can be added to ice tea or stir fry, etc. Janet likes the juice straight up in a glass but of course she grew up eating Lisbon lemons off the tree.
