Yes we have humid summers here in Ohio.

Where do you purchase your plants from? Is it local or do you order online?
Thanks
Online, usually Nourse, but have used Indiana Berry, Stark, Gurney’s, and even Burpee. Not always possible to find the cultivar you want at a good nursery. Burpee blueberries can be small and close to death. I ordered 2 Cara’s Choice from them, as it was the only option. I see why, one died, they were in bad shape. It is a plant going out of favor. probably hard to clone or maintain for the wholesale grower, which was not Burpee! . It is a small plant for a blueberry. well suited for containers.
Berries are ripening now on mine, and also Toro and Raz. Chandler is the last to ripen for me, It is a week off or so. It has a few berries turning. I like to let them hang on Chandler longer than most same with Legacy which has not started either. My Liberty almost died last year. Unknown why? Most of the canes died. It is still alive but had only one cane, no berries. I’m thinking of removing as it is just sitting there and not really growing. I got it from Raintree 7 years ago. It’s a fine blueberry, but I have enough, I’m not replacing it. I have 3 plants in containers. One will go in it’s raised bed spot.
Thank you for all the information. I have 43 fruit trees but wanting to get into berries as well.
@Drew51 does Kabluey live up to the hype? Is it productive? I read some mixed reviews on some old Gardenweb posts on it when I was initially researching varieties. I have room for several more plants though.
For flavor yes,
Not so far, Rather average to low production. It is only 3rd leaf. Berries are also medium size at best. They are so good I don’t care. Mine is in a container and that could affect how it grows too.
I have yet to find any that have every trait I desire. I feel it’s number 1 or number 2 in flavor of all I have grown. Which isn’t that many really. Plant grows well though, is vigorous which is not that common in Northerns.
Thanks, it might be worth a try. I have a feeling when my others get into production I’m going to have more than I need anyway. Where’d you get it?
Gurney’s. Now restricted (again) in my state. But one year it was allowed? I have no clue why? Well I do know Michigan likes to evaluate all blueberries before letting them in. It’s one of our main crops in this state. I thought it was clear (so did Gurney’s). Very strange.
Why the ban was placed back on I’m unsure of?
Check out True Vine Ranch. They don’t have many varieties but they are absolutely the best mail order plants you will ever receive. Even my small ones had blooms and berries the first year.
