And we have a great crop of Meyer Lemons. I collect rainwater in big plastic trash cans. One at each corner of the greenhouse, where the water runs off. And I threw jug after jug of rainwater into the greenhouse. I think it made a big difference in our lemons and bananas this year. Bananas were larger than usual.
The photos below are of oranges. They have not started to ‘turn’ yet. The first year they were very flavorful. A type of ‘blood’ orange. - Last 2 years they’ve been quite bland. ???
Oh, gosh, Luis . . . I don’t know. My husband ordered them years ago from a catalog. I’ll ask him. But, I doubt he knows. The fruit is about 4-5" max. And the trees do well in our little ‘greenhouse’ , but I think they shade all the other plants he has crowded in there.
But, hey . . . we get fruit! The greenhouse is his baby - and I try to mind my own business! LOL
I discovered that it has to do with maturity of the tree and how many times the variety blossoms each year. My meyer blossoms four times a year and couldn’t possibly hold all of the fruit; it only holds on to its fruit twice a year. About 12 - 14 lemons at a time. Both of my lemons are blooming now.
The fall crop of Arbutus unedo is starting to ripen around here, and they are much better than usual this year! With a bumper crop on the way for most of the neighborhood bushes, too, including these on the grounds of one of my kids’ schools:
Usually they are something I grab if I’m walking by, but not something I like enough to plant one myself. They grow on public property (schools and parks) all over my neighborhood, so there really is no need to grow my own.
This year, though, they are juicy almost. Very good! They tend to fall when perfectly ripe, but bruise really easily then. The seeds are gritty, but don’t bother me much. Sometimes they cause a slight pucker, but not this year as much.
@Luisport - My husband drove down to Ft. Lauderdale - (his fam is from there) - and went out to a nursery in Davie, FL . . . years and years ago. He brought back a couple of pots of ‘pups’ and they’ve been reproducing ever since. He calls them ‘finger bananas’, but doesn’t recall what ‘variety’ they are.

My first pecans ever from my two Kanza trees, from Rockbridge iirc, planted in 2017! The one on the left is from one tree, the others from the other. There’s still a fourth one on the second tree that hasn’t split shuck yet. I was hoping for a lot more based on the number that seemed to get pollinated, but better than nothing. These will be planted though, so no tasting this year.
