Desert Rose

So it’s like orchid then?

no, It is not an orchid , nor grow like an orchid.

No. I meant to ask is the desert rose roots behave like the Moth Orchids or Phalaenopsis, loves root bound in order to flower readily?

desert rose will tolerate a bit of water-logging(but just a bit!), compared to orchids. Like orchids, desert rose roots will like drying out in between waterings, and will thrive like young cacti–being grown on small pots.
of course they will be healthier and grow faster when grown on bigger pots, but will adapt to smaller pots and assume a bonsai-type of growth, especially when somewhat deprived of water and grown under full-sun.
i have grown them in the tropics, and they will bear flowers, even fruit with viable seed, even if grown in an 8" diameter and 2"-deep saucer.
they look really nice grown that way. Creating a mini-scenery with some pebbles/rocks at the base.

Thanks Jujubemulberry…

I probably should devote sometimes for this baby.
