Do You Thin Small Variety Fruit Trees?

I use the limb shake method to thin Shiro and other extreme oversetters. Once the fruit are nickel or so sized if you shake the limb hard you can remove a great deal of fruit in a few seconds. For taller trees you can use a pole with a hook on the end to reach the higher limbs. When the fruit are really small this will not work so well but when they get bigger they have more momentum and crash into each other and fall off en masse.

I have sometimes not thinned Shiro so much, and the flavor is not as good. I still end up with it overset a bit every year as I get tired of thinning at some point.

Thanks all for your replies. I still have manageable sizes and number of trees.

Ill experiment as i memtioned with a small branch or two by not thinning.
