Espalier Apple Trees Rework - 2016 Updates

Can you post a picture?

I did the same. I’m letting the regrowth stay. It’s hardening up and working on becoming fruit buds. A few bloomed after pruning but at the very least I already see more fruit buds. I have a lot more apples this year than ever, and I did exactly what you did here when i pruned last summer.

I have reconsidered and modified my post because it may not apply to espaliered fruit. It certainly seems to be an appropriate response for individual trees, based on my experience.

Thanks. I’m going to skip the photos because I don’t think it will help the responses! Thank you folks so much for your input.

@JinMA hat is youre spacing?

Two feet (about 60 cm). Seems to be working pretty well at this point, though I’ve had a couple of trees that haven’t grown very well. Not sure how much the spacing had to do with that, but I may need to graft them over to a more vigorous variety.

I deleted my post from here and started a new thread since it’s off original topic.

Same here! I read it on a long flight and took copious notes.
