I can’t tell from the photos, but is Flavor Grenade freestone or not?

@vitog
In my experience it is semi-freestone. A knife was necessary to cut slices, but they detached easily.

I am netting my tree next year.

I have been perfectly happy eating my FG with just a hint of blush all the way to a bit less than half some shade of red.

Birds open them up when they start blushing.

I’ll try next year to get some to all red…still, I enjoy them crunchy and light green anyways, so that’s about 5 weeks of eating

@Bradybb my flavor Greenade Pluot first fruiting this summer. I like it , very very crispy, sweet and tart balance.

They look good.Curly Leaf Plum Aphids, took over my tree this year.
My suggestion,is to try them at different stages,to see what is most appealing.

Thank you @Bradybb my flavor Greenade fruits are still very firm. They are interesting to me. I don’t have time to water it much. Seem like not much new branches growing out at all.
@murky how your Splash and sweet treat this year. My splash has about 10 fruits this year. Almost nothing.

My splash has a lot of big, nice looking fruit on it this year. Last year was the only dud. I thinned better this year and pruned off some of the lower branches. Today was the first mostly ripe one that wasn’t very damaged. I think next weekend they should be really good.

My next door neighbor has one really loaded. They are looking good too. Maybe a little too much.

My sweet treat has only ever had a few fruit. None set this year :frowning:

@Ahmad based on your experience, “how red” on the tree should it be to reach its full sweetness and flavor even after picking?

I usually pick them when they are solid red, and start to give to little pressure. Last year I left a couple till they were very dark red, almost reddish black from the bottom, and they were like sugarcane sweet. It’s not only the sweetness, they also have very good flavor.

The winner in Pacific NW. I am so happy with it and Splash Pluot. @Bradybb @murky thank you so much for information, now I had another Pluot in my orchard.

Those look perfect. Wow. I’m happy for you. You’ve got the touch with stone fruit.

I bought the tree last August, (pictures way up above 121). It gives me about 25 fruits. Every time come to see them then tasted one. Today I just picked all in. Still keep one on the tree until fall off by itself. We really enjoyed the flavor. Must much better than the stored Greenade. Look forward next year.@Jafar.

I have a lot to work towards to get mine that far along color wise. I will definitely need to net the tree next year.
