Fruit tree buying

Yes, Adams had a huge crop failure of stone fruit available this year. About 15 years ago they lost most of their stock because of a roof collapse from heavy snow of their storage facility. They had a lot of trees from Fowlers that season to make up some of their losses- tough business.

They don’t bother to remove the labels in these cases.

Didn’t that Tennessee Nursery have a crop failure too? I forgot the name?

You’re speaking of Cumberland Valley (FTF) and Vaughn’s. They both lost
just about all of their rootstocks.

how does something like that happen?

Extremely hard freeze at the wrong time- seems to me it was in very early spring and all the budded stock got killed- something like that.

I thought it was low seed germination.

That was not the explanation the head man at ACN gave me when they had their open-house. I’m sorry I don’t remember the exact details, but it was a freezing event that killed above the ground.

I’m talking about the Tennessee nurseries.

Matt,
It was basically the seed germination problem that was exacerbated
by bad weather.
