My wife hates me shooting innocent animals. As well it goes against my hunting spirit and principals : I have to consume everything I got by hunting, trapping or fishing. I don’t understand those hunting for trophies. I eat everything I kill, I use fur of everything I trapped. Why should i kill a porkies or a woodchucks if I’m not suppose to consume them ? That is why ( and only for that reason) I ask dear forum members for an alternative ways to eradicate such ( unprotected in NYS) creatures from my 3 developed acres. Again, they are more than welcome to stay/live on the rest 64 acres or neighbors.
Ah… Alan. Seems you don’t have such kind of problems. Electric fence does not work for rodents. Electric fence works for bears, deer or a cattle.
Another point you forgot - I don’t have an electricity on my farmland. It is a wilderness , absolute wilderness. No well, no electricity, only rain water I collected and a small spring at the bottom of a hill. A small solar panel charges my cell phone when I’m there.
An electric fence certainly can work for rodents if you bury some chicken wire and string some hot lines above the ground close enough to the chicken wire to assure the rodents contact both at the same time. I’ve made it work. One line wouldn’t be enough if you are using a solar powered charger that pulsates, but if you have 3, any animal climbing the fence is bound to get zapped.
I have no problem shooting animals and giving them a quick merciful death, but setting foot traps when you won’t be around to finish the trapped animal off first thing in the morning is beyond the pail as far as I’m concerned. An animal missing a paw is very likely to starve to death.

I’d presume you can set up a solar with batteries for a fence.
But seriously who does that? Moves to the wilderness and wants to exterminate all animals from their homes?
