I buy it in bulk 500 pounds at a time from an agricultural supplier. Corn growers use it by the ton. Straight urea is much more widely available- Agway sells it in 40 or 50 pound bags.
Agway is where I buy Urea, a 50 lb bag is $25.
Thank you!.
I’m more interested in balanced fertilizers. 50 pounds last me about 1.5 seasons. Sometimes only one season. I try to have on hand before I need it.
I like three brands am Leonard sells.
For 9 month stuff I found this works great. Also remember most plants need a 3-1-2 ratio of NPK. I try to buy products with close to this ratio amounts.
Also this 140 day formula with nasa developed slow release technology. I like the 140 day but they have 90 and 120 day too expensive but awesome. Both Andersons and Florikan contain micros too. So complete or close to complete fertilizers.
I also like HyR brix fruit and berry which I don’t see there anymore.
All three have worked well for me as a general fertilizer. I need it for trees bushes and fruit vines I want something I can use in everything and also close to complete as I do tons of container growing too. I have had great results with any of these three products.
Anyone buy from these guys before? I’m trying to get some O+ that doesn’t cost $200 after shipping. Ridiculous pricing everywhere I searched. I can get regular Osmocote 50# bags local for $97 but I want the O plus.
walmart here puts oc+ on clearance after growing season in the fall often, ive stocked up and have enough to last me for years… Its often less than $1/lb if you watch the clearance stuff.
I see a lot of people sprinkling OC on top of the soil of their potted plants, but ive found it works much better if mixed in when preparing my potted mixes, you get a lot more bang for your buck that way.
If you are using Florikan with Nutricote, release is dependent on temperatures. I got a 100 day nutricote formula which based on their charts is more like 5 months to release 80% N for my region.
For general purpose fertilizer, I have been using Stutzman Nutri-Rich 4-3-2. Found out about it through my inlaws’ landscaper, who was buying it at a local turf supplier (only place I’ve seen it in my area).
It’s organic/OMRI certified, granular and based on poultry waste, and is quite inexpensive at under $15 for a 40lb bag. I buy several bags at a time use it on basically everything.

If anyone is near Sacramento I have a place not too far away called Placerville Fruit Growers been around since the early 1900’s. They sell Osmocote Plus for $102 for 50# bag. No tax if it’s for fruit. I really love that place and the feel of buying stuff from them. I get 50# bags of Gypsum there for dirt cheap I think around $8 and Azomite for $26.50.
