They do get softer as they hang and become less astringent and more sweet.

If you like sour and don’t mind astringent, go for it as soon as the color is uniform. If you want to see how sweet and non-astringent they can get, let them hang until they are soft and you risk breaking them upon removal. (the birds will have eaten them all by then :slight_smile: )

What time of spring or temperature is best for Goumi grafting? I’ve noticed that the plants leaf out early, but my previous early attempts at grafting failed. Are warmer temperatures required for good callus formation?
