Grafting Japanese Maple on Box Elder - Acer Palmatum on Acer Negundo

So I did these very fast, and a few of the scions seemed to be dried out at the time of grading, but since I had limited buds I tried anyway.

Still there are three with swelling buds now and more to come, hopefully we’ll get some real confirmation soon.

Here’s an extremely interesting variety of sycamore-leafed Maple that I found in the woods, I read that these come semi-true to seed so it’s possible that it wasn’t intentionally planted, hopefully it is compatible with box elder!

This whip and tongue is a very shapely silver Maple, and the other is the sycamore-leafed

Unfortunately I don’t have good news on any of these yet, I’m going to go check last year’s Silver Maple on Box Elder on Monday and there’s one Japanese maple that might be alive?

Anyway I found this crazy ¿Triploid? Silver Maple and tried to graft it, I should read about this cultivar, maybe it’s typical. But it’s so strange to see the buds in three’s when all maples have the buds opposite each other in pairs.
