I almost put “wild” in quotes. There are lots of places less likely to draw negative attention. Even some rooftops gardens are potentially going to be safe for a surprise branch of fruit.
Now they are in NYC. I have eaten unsprayed Bing cherries there after a night of partying and waking up in someone else’s apartment with a terrace over a courtyard with a huge cherry tree growing’ in it. We walked out on the terrace and picked fruit from its branches. Ripe, sweet, crisp and pristine because it was in a tree desert. Great cure for a hangover.
