How did you arrange your orchard?

Great to hear, I really enjoy his videos and his enthusiasm

Apples by bloom date. That sounds like a good approach. I would not be able to do so because I kept buying new trees that would have fallen within the others and messed up the pattern

pretty much organized mine the same way. bigger trees to the north gives protection from N /N/W winds creating protection for the other plants in the yard. my big spruces to the west protect from that direction making a micro climate in most of my yard.

My orchard is on a gentle slope that faces northeast. Not necessarily my first choice but thats what i had. After a few years realized that the northeast aspect has the effect of delaying bloom somewhat, not a bad thing since we often have late frosts. The top row is all true cider apple varieties on G30, G210, and M7 rootstocks planted on 10 ft centers, arranged by bloom date. The next row is 20 ft downslope, planted at the same in row spacing. Between each row is a hugelkulture trench that i replenish annually with various compostable materials. Each row has 10 trees. The orchard is in its fifth year. So far this system is working well and i expect the hugekculture trwnches to both improve drainage and serve as a nutrient reserviur.
