There’s a Vietnamese grocery store in Austin and they sell different varieties of dried Jujubes straight from China. I tried them at some point and found them hard and chewi, nothing like when I eat fresh ones. I will try my own someday. Thanks for the video.
I often see Jujube powder, Does anyone know how it’s done and used.
haven’t seen it and have no idea about specifics, but one could surmise it would make a great tea and sweetener all-in-one.
like some palm dates, juju dates crystallize with time, especially here in low humidity, so i guess the chinese crush and ground them up to use as fruit sugar.
The bags of fruit we get imported from China are the poorest quality jujubes and frequently older too. In China the quality of the bagged jujubes is much better.
If the ones I’ve had from Ranch 99 market here in San Diego are poor quality then I’d better get on a plane to try the ones in China!!
I was in a Walmart in China in October that had the newest crop of dried jujubes. They were on shelving that was about 20-25 feet long and 7 feet tall. A solid wall of bagged jujubes, with prices from about $2 to $25. In addition to those shelves they had displays of jujubes in 2 or 3 other prominent locations.
