Winblo. Customers had standing orders from year to year for that variety. Most of my customers were retired people who would say it tasted like peaches they had growing up. Thin them good and they get huge and they have a nice red blush on the sunny side.
I’m only just planting them, but my two peaches will be Intrepid and Contender because only late bloomers have a chance to produce in our erratic desert-mountain climate. The Intrepid is already a happy little sapling about a meter high. I planted a bare root Contender at the same time this spring and it didn’t quite make it. I was thinking of replacing it with either Contender or Reliance, another peach with a late-blooming reputation; but think I’ll hold out for Contender after seeing so many people here endorse it - thanks, everyone!
Have grown contender, red haven, saturn donut and snow peach. Snow peach has best flavor but for reliability year in/year out and ability to preserve well, the Red Haven wins. Re: nectarines agree tree ripened white nectarine or fantasia will top any peach, but they do not preserve near as well, whether frozen or canned.
