Jujube in New York

Black Sea = Russia #2. The name “Yalta #1” is something I’ve only seen in the details on the OGW page. But, in addition to Prof Yao’s genetic testing, I’ve also got a Black Sea from OGW and the fruit is the same as that from Russia #2 from CRD.

I don’t know but I’m assuming it’s not a wind pollination factor. When first having small tree/trees mostly all I got was ants and the slowly the masses of insects showed up buzzing the trees like crazy. Mostly now I see flying insects which will greatly lengthen the pollination distance. It’s really hard to remove all rootstock pollination in a set up like mine and even just in my orchard keeping the suckers cleared out is a big job.

I’ve got 4-5 rootstock seedlings that have fruit that I look forward to eating. I have one that produced an oblong blunt ended fruit (think small cocktail sausage) that was sour/sweet and interesting. One in particular has one larger than Texas Tart that is good.
