Yeah that sounds more right. My superior has been grafted on for a few years now and is still a pretty short stick of wood. Never put all your eggs in one basket.

That makes sense that it should work, but mine has put on very little growth. Maybe it got stunted somehow. Pluots do great on k1. I grafted shaa kar pareh (white apricot) to it last year and that has put on plenty of growth. I’m going to move things around and chain saw them
