White latex probably wouldn’t hurt it. In horticulture, research tends to be inadequate to be definitive. With the trillions spent on human medicine and research, just a single species, research based guidelines change all the time and don’t apply to all human beings in the same way.
Excess heat might be more of a problem for some species than others. All Shigo worked with were two tree species, as I recall. I used to know what they were.
Alrighty, sounds like what needs to happen is pretty much nothing. Let mother nature do her thing after cleaning up the wound. I have some IV Organic 3-in-1 Plant Guard left I might apply in a few day, if I do anything at all that is. I’ll give it some extra food for good measure as @Hillbillyhort suggested since I’m about to apply compost and feed all trees anyway in the next week or so.
