Markets in France

My family and I are visiting France. We are a little early for gage plums unfortunately but there are lots of cherries and other wonderful fruits and vegetables. Maybe I try to hard in my orchard, the figs here just grow out of the walls.

I bought a ruin of a barn in France 20 years ago. It had a small (10cm) fig growing out of the wall so we just stuck it in the ground not hoping for much. 20 years on, one main trunk split in a storm, and more pruning than I like, and non stop suckers in all directions. It gives fantastic sweet late summer fruit. I’m just about getting to grips with pruning so we get as much fruit as the birds, but yes, they do grow out of the walls!

I should have added no watering, no feeding, no winter protection, zone 8 or 9 (not really sure)
