starting to get a few winecap from older beds. got a second flush from a yellow oyster block i tossed earlier in spring. been getting little shreds of Italian oyster here and there. this year’s winecap planting are giving me nothing and looks like almost no mycelium formed.
not sure what to do with that. i got no fresh chip for them now so they’ll have to make do
May be a little late: but these are perfect shiitake mushrooms, somehow highly prized in Eatern Asian culture. Just when young shiitake mushrooms go through dry/wet cycles, the skin cracks and becomes so called “flowers”. This kind of shiitake mushrooms is usually called “flower shiitake” and priced higher in the market.
