My Backyard Orchard in South Carolina

Wow Josh! You weren’t kidding when you said your soil was “sand…all the way to China”! ha. I certainly have no experience whatsoever with growing in soil that sandy. Seems like there wouldn’t be enough nutrients but if you are 10 miles from SC peach country, I’m sure they must have similar soil and do just fine? Anyway, thanks for sharing and I wish you lots of luck. Like you, I’m a big stone fruit lover and have lots of the varieties you planted. I think you made a lot of good choices. Good luck!

We have over 500 fruit trees near Myrtle beach, SC. The stone fruits are not our favorites. Our clear winners are Japanese persimmons, Asian pears, figs, and apples. Good luck.
