Myfruittree Genetic Testing

Does anyone know what happened to myfruittree.org? I want to get some genetic testing done but the website has been down for a while now.

The spreadsheet link times out frequently but is generally refreshed quickly

The methods used by these wishful-thinking agriculturists fail sampling statistics taught in Stat 101 for the life sciences. Note that persons majoring in biology with an emphasis in agriculture are not required to take Stat 101 at many colleges and universities.

It is unrealistic to expect a $50 test to be perfect. It’s unreasonable to label WSU work as pure garbage as well. I’ve sent one sample to be tested and found the results to be satisfactory.

If you desire to prove a point, there are two apple varieties WSU has tested that came back with dubious results. If there is a facility that performs tests with much more accuracy, then test the Hawaii and Kentucky Limbertwig.

Mislabeling by curators, sellers, or apple explorers seem to be a much bigger issue.

It’s unrealist to expect random tested roadside feral apples to come back with perfectly accurate results. It does make sense to send leaf samples of known varieties not in their database such as the Dixie Red Delight, Horse, Summer Banana, Red Rebel, Brushy Mt. Limbertwig.

The arguments used to defend horticultural “Genetic ID” are no different than those used by physicians a century ago to defend the continued use of blood-letting.
