New Storefront - Rare Fruit Feedback

How have things been going? Any updates?

We have it up and going, but has been a lot of work and expense. No contractors in the area available due to hurricane damages, so we’ve had to do everything from putting up the fence to painting.

The local business has been slow for the most part, but likely due to the area appearing to be under construction. I believe once the flag tape goes down, and it doesn’t look like a crime scene, people will start flocking to it.

Restaurant portion is on semi-hold until the city does their inspections. Other than that, everything else seems to be moving ahead. So far, the greatest request is for landscaping homes. So, I suppose that is a service we will have to provide for sure.

I am finding it hard to keep rare or unusual plants here, because the walk-ons appear and start offering money before I can even post them online. Can’t keep citrus in stock at all, and wholesalers are simply out of everything.

I have thousands of seed starts in anticipation of next year, but not many places to put them. I need to add some greenhouses to the property, and a lot of improvements need made, but just can’t afford to make some of them yet. The community is very excited about the cafe, and I feel that will end up being the most desired aspect of the location due to where it is in front of the hospital. Those 30 min lunch breakers can’t travel to town to eat, so we will get to strongly capitalize on that.

That sounds wonderful! Maybe offer some tiny seedlings this fall or even sooner if you don’t currently have room for all of them? Having the food>plant combo should be a winner.
