The time spent growing healthy salable apples is a bigger problem for us. We have a relatively small apple orchard compared to the larger orchards in our market. We have not opened as of yet for PYO. We sold some Honey Crisp at our stand to locals who know us for our blueberries and peaches. Our apple orchard is so small I can’t honestly see us opening for more than 2 or 3 weekends even at max production. So in sum…due to our apple orchard size…I feel that we could “sellout” of what we have.
Our pickers are fairly well behaved and respectful. I’ve only “warned” one lone wolf adult male customer once (he was picking blueberries, standing up and eating handfuls at a time…almost as if to show off to other customers and to challenge us). He never came back after that.
