For an older apple tree like this that hasn’t been pruned or sprayed in years, would you recommend heavy pruning to get the tree to a more manageable height, and easier to spray? I have a tree like this on my property. I am considering taking scion cutting from it next winter/spring for grafting, since it is obviously cold hardy and disease resistant.
