Seeing this comment from @jsteph00921 made me realize this may not have come up in this thread yet, but probably worth mentioning:

For the zone pushers in the PNW, this might be a good time to plant out things that may need a mild winter or two before their first test winter. That’s in contrast to the last couple La Niña winters, which were more on the “strong selection pressure” side of the equation.

It’s all just statistical probabilities, of course, so not foolproof or anything, but with a strong El Niño we will be very unlikely to get any arctic air masses.
