My passionfruit flowers have been regularly destroyed by Japanese beetles, so no fruit set for me even with constant hand pollination.
On 2 vines the fruit randomly collapses. I’ve opened one to find some unformed seeds, more like seeds missing the seed coat. Not sure if the seeds would continue to grow and form a shell if the outside of the fruit has collapsed and dried a bit. Would it worth to attemp an embryo rescue? I feel like doing that is out of a hobbyists reach lol

You could use insect netting and hand pollinate.

2-10 seedling floweres from 2 plants (the one in the first pocture is more blue in person and notice the second, close to the center, has a red purple color.).

Gringo x OP has been the most fruitful for me so far. The two Timbo x OP that germinated have been a bit stingy.

Both my 2-10’s were the absolutely earliest flowering, at about 3 weeks ahead of the first Gringo. Another Gringo seedling looks very close to going into blossoming, another just has just started forming flower buds, and the fourth has no buds and is only 6.5’ tall. The two Timbo seedlings I should see a open flower tomorrow from one and the other is runted out at only 1’ tall. The Pulsar seedling seems extremely dwarfed, it’s a foot tall has 4-5 branches with stems thinner than the other maypop plant’s tendrils and leaves only 1" across even though they’re ove 40 leaves on the thing, a true ultimate bonsai passion fruit vine.

I guess two more Gringo seedlings bloomed today, so 3 seedlings all had their first blooms within two days. The one in the first, I didn’t notice any of buds close to blooming yesterday, but now there’s a flower.

It looks like I may have fruit-set. Most of the flowers just fall off, but this one looks to have something forming.

Have you tried hand pollinating between the two seedlings?

I haven’t, but I have seen bees on them. It also looks like there are three tiny fruit on the big vine. Honestly, I would be happy with any in the first year, so that is already great.

Yes 95% of the time this appearance means fruit set.

Actually, I took another look and there are at least 6 on the big vine, with the biggest getting pretty large.
One of the small vines has one as well. It will be interesting to see how different each of them is.

Looks like I’ll see my first fruit this year, and several flowers still on the vines.

The second one here has phenomenally large flowers about 5" where the first one here has 4" flowers.

In our trials with this genetic line, they are surprisingly variable but consistently tasty, good and higher caliber than average. Shape varies a lot, and flavor.
