How would you describe/evaluate the taste? I can see it has a decent size, seeds look alright (as long as the flavour is better than a Wells ford example  )

Im not the best at describing flavors but i can say that i grow many of the new improved varieties and this one is as good flavor wise. And its earlier than my other pawpaws.

Thank you, I appreciate your help

People are generally bad at describing and identifying flavors and notes. Strong what? Rich how?

Heck, a lot of people can’t pick out the difference between two fruits. I gave a wild one and a Susquehanna to a friend and they said that they taste about the same lol.

I gave a sample of a raspberry to someone who was buying a plant and they said

" wow that taste just like from the store!"

The hell it does, that raspberry I gave them was 10x better than a store bought one. Store bought ones taste like garbage. They are so bad that I thought I didn’t like them for the longest time.

Yeah, it’s really frustrating when folks either can’t or don’t try to appreciate flavors and flavor differences.
I’m not sure the explanation- is it biological? Mental? Behavioral?

But at the end of the day I tell myself it’s not right to judge folks and just move on.

I know people who dont care what it tastes at all. Just texture. Couldnt be me it all matters

I am also in that ‘group’ - at least that i appreciate the more firm, or let’s say not too mushy overripe texture, it’s just more pleasant to eat when its not tooo soft. For me. And i noticed also that when they get overripe, i experienced this for 3 varieties i think, they all tasted pretty much the same - just too toffee-flavoured, mixed with a starting alcoholic mix - which is good for making spirits. But the same variety when it was just about ripe it had a variety of flavours, and was even sweeter, more delightful than those soft darker ones

I remember my first time having red wine and really dark chocolate. The tannins and bitterness just overwhelmed me initially. The more you have them the more you adapt to the tastes and can start to pick out the flavor subtleties. Pawpaws were a little like this for me at first…albeit to a lesser degree.

I agree, people with taste are the odd ones out. It is part of why fast food has been so successful… The average consumer has little flavor introspection. Not a day passes when I don’t think about this scene from Ratatouille

POV, you’re surrounded by garbage eaters

Good observation.

Yes that is typically how it works with pawpaw.
