Apple trees and junipers are not a good mix because of Cedar Apple Rust.

It’s a fair point and I appreciate the concern. But given that the much closer upwind fenceline of the orchard is already full of eastern red cedar, I’m not really concerned about planting some junipers on the farther away, downwind fenceline.

try sourcing norway spruce. they are very fast growing and make quick privacy trees. they grow on any kind of soil.
What about holly(Ilex ilex)? Rhododendron?
