Back at you Bill we would likely be into all kinds of stuff in the first week! You would be a great neighbor too. I probably better stick to Kansas and wide open spaces. I’m a great neighbor but this is still a moderately wild place and I feel penned up here. When I was growing up I had 1 neighbor in miles! The burbs have caught up with me.
Yes good neighbours are a real blessing. At one point we had cranky neighbours behind, next door to the south and across the street. Only our upstairs neighbours and those north of us were fine families we got along with. The behind and across the street ones would complain all the time over every little thing to city hall, including if you parked in front of their house on the street. Now we are getting along with everyone but the nasty old guy across the street who has harassed his next door neighbours so much that the house has been sold four times in 10 years when each new owner gets fed up with his calls to the bylaws officers.
So if you can resolve your issues about the tree at your fence line peacefully it is worth a shot.

If your referring to my post it was meant as dark humor - not to be taken seriously (thus the goofy eyes). I have to entertain myself somehow …
That would be plan B. I have been in that situation before a few times. Diplomacy usually pays off. It takes a little longer but in the end, your neighborhood is more than just a tree and its problem.
