I don’t think it looks too bad and I don’t think that’s the most terrible advice. You don’t really want a central leader - you want to make it an “open vase”. Much easier and kind of standard for peach trees.
Peach tree age is based on how many summers it has been planted in the spot so yours is two and here is a good video about pruning two year old trees:
