It looks painful experience to buy things from them. Raintree used to be one of my favorite nursery but I have not bought any trees from them ever since they raised the price.
Hi Melon, I’m James Owen, I own Raintree. I’m sorry you have had such a hard experience with us, we really do try and make sure everyone is accommodated in their requests. Do you want to email me directly? Maybe I can do something about your issues, it seems like there have been several. james.owen@raintreenursery.com
Thanks to sites like this, &due to their high prices, I’ve never ordered from them & likely never will…
After talking to the owners, I’ve decided to give them a try once again. I wrote a pretty long email summarizing what everyone’s frustrations have been so i hope they decide to make some changes since the email. Really hope they step up with quality control on the bare roots because all of their potted stuff have always been great but i can’t say the same with bare roots yet. I really want to love all of our pnw nurseries and i hope things are a little different from here on out.
I know with the shipping complaints with restoring eden, they’re trying to better things on their end as well when it comes to shipping. At least that’s what I’ve heard and i saw Troy packing up a ton of stuff the other day from the nursery. I’m hoping raintree looks over everything and tries to improve as well. I know Burntridgenursery had an issue with online stuff in the past and the lady there was trying to change it too to make it less confusing. She explained to me what was going on though and how they were working on it. As far as I’ve seen, i think that issue has been resolved since i check their stuff often as well.
I was looking to see if anyone else has had issues, my order with raintree just shipping yesterday. By far the last fruit plant to arrive this spring. They kept telling me something about a delayed start to shipping. I ordered in mid February, so I know I was down the list for shipping, but feels crazy late. I would have ordered elsewhere but they had both of the mini nectarines I wanted, so I ate the outrageous price and hoped it meant better service…hopefully they are gorgeous when they arrive next week, but given the long transit to my state, I think I also need to stick with the east coast sellers who ship quickly and the plants arrive in 2-3 days.
I got stuff from them last week. The jujube was really nice, the currants/gooseberry were nice as well except the one white currant was a tiny twig. I also got a wintergreen that was “ok” felt expensive for the size but I wanted one lol.
I did get a notification during shipping from FedEx? UPS? That there was a delay due to operations or something weird like that.
I’d order from them again, except I feel they have outrageous shipping charges.
Glad to hear mostly everything is nice. I agree about the shipping. I’m still gagging on how much I spent there for two trees.
Sadly, my premium price raintree mini nectarines arrived looking awful. Both have moldy roots, so many broken limbs because of how tight they tied them up, crazy low (barely 1.5” ) graft site for one, and then the least worrisome and just annoying is that one is much smaller than advertised. Frustrating. We’ll see if they do anything.
I’m waiting for mini nectarines too!
I hope yours are so much better than these!
Ive started my own crap nursery list and Raintree is on it.
I’m feeling overall neutral after getting my order today. I put in my order late Feb, 25. Got confirmation for the order. Didn’t hear anything after the weather was starting to warm, and I am only a couple hours max from the nursery, so I messaged them to see when shipping would happen. They said week of the 7th of April. Okay, that’s fine. Just got it today, after the tracking number kept saying not recieved, not recieved, then delivered 1:44pm today (right as I was headed to work!). So that was interesting.
Went ahead and planted when I got home!
Don’t look bad, but one is much smaller than the other. The moist roots also smelled kinda gross, but whatever… not here to sniff roots.
Well, I haven’t heard back from them yet, but I see no reason to order there again.
I just wanted to update that Raintree finally responded to my order problems and issued a refund.
Well, unfortunately, mine just arrived with mold all over the roots as well. Hoping for a refund as well. The mini nectarines also arrived with several broken branches.
Bummer. They told me the horticulturist said they have brittle branches and always break in transit (but why tie them so tight?!) and the mold will be eaten up by the soil microbes…all I can say is I feel a little guilty about the nectazee refund because it’s going into bloom all over. It was the 25% smaller arctic babe that really irked me. I hope yours thrive!
It does give me hope that yours leafed out! My Arctic Babe looks pretty rough and small compared to the Nectazee, but my fingers are crossed! I’m still annoyed they shipped so late this year. Our temps are already in the high 70’s and Low 80’s here.
Send an update when they’re doing great. Thinking positive now that I’m seeing them bloom. Will be fun to compare as they grow. I’m putting my money on yours thriving and mine trying to get by in the humidity…
Well i did an order from raintree because they had got their raintree select goumi in stock … and i saw they had Missouri giant in stock as well and had wanted that. so i placed an order, a few weeks ago and they decided to ship it during a holiday week, across the country… open my box up today and there was 1 piece of paper in it so the plants had been able to slide up and down the box. The missouri giant is unlabeled so not sure if its the actual right thing, potted in bark, dry as a bone, and looks like it should be on the clearance rack at home depot. Also the thing is grafted!!! They advertise 1 year well rooted bushes! not grafted bushes!
And it has all that fruit?!
