Grow Thai jumbo, Red Rocket, Thai long green,

The top two is Thai jumbo and Thai long green. I would avoid older variety like Black Diamond and Pearl.

well, they dont taste like tomatoes really- , id compare them somewhat to guava and passionfruit- but the do have a noticeable solanaceous quality to them. probably not for everyone, though i understand theyre verrrry popular where they are grown, including new zealand where theyre grown for export. Ive never seen them for sale in the states.

where do I buy the plant?

There are plenty of sellers from Florida and California that ship to other states. Etsy also sell them. They are just pricier with added shipping. I see alot of backyard nursery sell them in SoCal

Tree tomato limbs are bent down with the weight of the fruit.

Will they root in water like a tomato or better to just stick them in dirt with some hormone

I root them in soil. Theyre not 100%, but pretty close set in dappled shade sans hormone or care.

Its getting too cold for ‘heat’ temps in the 80’s. Winter is here (fall really). In the very low 70’s and 50’s at night.

Wow! Just saw this thread. I’ve been trying to figure out how to get Sugar Apppe here in SoCal Z10.

Thanks for the great recs on varieties. Could you share where you sourced them and any recs for online (that shipped to you) or in-person nurseries in SoCal you’ve had good results from?

So excited to get some feedback and sources potentially.
