Reliable cold hardy figs question

those are so late, what is the variety? My ronde or violette de bordeaux with be ready in August.

@mrsg47 … Chicago Hardy… we normally get first ripe figs late Aug or early Sept.

Our first hard frost is normally sometime in November.

In 2020… our first hard frost was Dec 3. I harvested figs and fall raspberries until Dec 3.

I am experimenting a bit this year to see if I can get them to start ripening sooner. I normally allow 10 shoots to grow… this year limited those to 8.

When we get our new home built… I plan to add a earlier ripener like Rdb.

@mrsg47 … figs are pretty incerdible here too.

Delicious… tied with persimmons for my favorite fruit.

My wife would love to go to France… she just has to talk me into it.

Right now she has me talked into a trip to … Yellowstone/Grand tetons, Disney World with kids and granddaughter… and some State park here in TN… she has not decided which one yet.

We’ve got figs!

I’ve got figs on two other plants made from local cuttings too. All died back to the ground despite protection this winter. Expect them to ripen late August into October here.

It was down to 7F this winter in zone 7a.
Marseilles Black VS had some die back, about 10%. Looking good and some small fruit are showing. About 5ft tall.
