I have an AU Rosa… which is self pollinating and does a great job of setting fruit all by itself…
Also a Shiro…
Problem for me is they both bloom early March and we almost always have a few frost after that. Last two seasons… had fruit set… got toasted… shriveled and fell off.
Onto my AU Rosa and Shiro trees… i have added grafts of later bloomers and other varieties hoping some of them will occasionally get past our Mid to late March frost.
I added the american plum Vic Red, Alderman, Superior, Spring satin plumcot, South Mtn plumcot, Beauty.
Plan to add Waneta and AU Cherry plum next spring. These either bloom much later or are known to set and keep fruit thru minor frosts better than most.
