Selecting graft wood

With as cold as it was earlier plus the last month of three days in the 40s then three in the teens, i cut a bunch early this year not sure what might not make this winter

I always put my Scions in my crisper it’s closed so opening the fridge doesn’t have any effect.

Me too!

Any advice on cutting summer bud wood (apple & pear) ?

Here’s a good picture Andy:

Wait until the end of July at least to cut your sticks.

Dax

Thanks Dax. I actually ordered bud wood from Geneva this year. I also want to bud some varieties I currently have and wanted to confirm when to harvest it. I know I need to let it mature/harden off, so I’ll watch it to see when the bark turns brown. I have a few trees that need the original grafts thinned out. My Fireside has 6 bark grafts that need to be thinned to 3 and I want to use that to graft new trees for the orchard. I also have a couple varieties that the deer keep pruning so I’d like to bud new trees on leftover rootstocks and continue those varieties in the orchard as well.
