Side by side/ UTV

My mother and father in law have a 2018 Polaris Ranger 1000. They have had it for 5 years with zero issues.

My BIL has a 2022 Honda Pioneer 6 seater. He has had it for 2 years with zero issues.

In my opinion, all makes/models/brands have their pros and cons. To me, they are just like Ford/Chevy/Dodge. Everyone has their preferences.

As far as I know, there are 3 brands to choose from if a person wants a UTV with HVAC. Kawasaki, Polaris, and Can Am. All build good machines, all are expensive. If HVAC isn’t a requirement, then there are many more brands to choose from. Buy what you like and from a dealer close to you, odds are you’ll need some type of service at some point unless you’re a good small engine mechanic

Thank you. At this point I’m open to whatever as long as I can find something in good shape. They do seem fairly easy to resell.

You have a good point. I think I just need to make sure there’s someone to repair locally if needed.

I would be very, very careful buying a used UTV or ATV. I personally wouldn’t do so, but if I did it would be from a dealer or from someone I knew well and trusted ( so like nobody…lol)

They are all junk for what they cost. If money is no issue i would probably go with the Ranger XD1500. Its the quietest and most comfortable one so far i think.

I dont like the Kawi Ridge at all… sitting in it is like a chore and its loud.

Not sure whats going to happen with CanAm and the tariff stuff so probably will be crazy to get parts etc.

I like the fit and finish on the RMAX too… i was going to buy one but it kinda does work and kinda does play but does neither great.

Honda Pioneers are a favorite of rental companies… im just not into them that much. I guess they seem too much like something i would rent for a safari or something. Probably the wisest one to purchase though as they are designed for no frills duty.

The 1500 is in another category entirely. They are huge compared to the others. I know in WI they are illegal to use on public ATV trails due to their size. To fully equip one, you’re looking at close to $50K. Great machines, but geez…

Every UTV I’ve ever been in was loud. I do wish my 1000 was quieter.

The pioneer and wolverine X2 are pretty quiet… the exhaust outlet is about the size of your thumb.

yeah. my teryx is pretty loud also. its belt driven so it makes it even worse. i see some guys wearing hearing protection when out on the trails with their utvs. probably not a bad idea.

Yea, I’m just going to get a used golf cart. The back seats usually fold down, and I could stack a few bushels
