@Cathy_Lee

21 days isn’t to long to hatch chicks. It will pass before you know it.

These are 10 330’ x47" rolls of woven wire fencing. I’m on schedule so far but now i need to get the corner posts.

Today i scouted how wet the area was where my corner posts are located. We have these stashed in a very remote area about half a mile off the road on a friend’s property. We stashed these here many years ago. It takes a machine to load these. They are around 35’ long and 8"-10" around.

Are you building a Jurassic park fence? :t_rex: :sauropod: :slight_smile:

@Tana

It is difficult aquiring materials for building a good fence. Once it is built the poaching and trespassing will slow down.

Barbed wire - is that commonplace there? Who/what you want to keep in/out?

@ltilton

Most fence is barbed wire here. I used it on the top only. Mostly i plan to keep poachers out and livestock of any kind inside. This is mostly dirt farms and cattle range here. Most deer wont jump in and eat crops. Good fences make good neighbors. Im not saying some deer wont be in there but we know its going to be better.

Had to take time off the project and everyone has been making hay and harvesting oats while the sun was shining. The trick is to getting any crop is timing. The pears need to be harvested before green june beetles and japanese beetles harvest them for me. I lost alot of pears this year to storms blowing them off the trees. The windows are small and need for skills is great. We lose partial crops sometimes. We are in an ever race against time. Rain is a huge blessing though it frequently comes at the wrong times. Sunshine and extreme heat is a huge blessing though it frequently comes at the wrong times. Grafting season, harvest season, land aquistion, and finding time for planning are all necessary in a project. They may be necessary but that doesn’t mean i ever get done. The lessons we learn sting like nettle at times. Half of the oats were not thrashed they were bailed only due to a storm that flattened over half the oats. It was the same storm that flung many pears from the trees. I dont view it as a curse it was merely God taking what was due to feed his wildlife. I’m planning on purchasing a second property to gain another entrance. I will then have road access on the north and on the west to the property. Nothing wrong with my other entrance i like to have options.
