Hi! Yes. To me, Red Star tastes nothing unique (just like wild plums), but I do like wild plums. A friend said they taste like bananas, but not me.
Toka plums, on the other hand, were absolutely delicious, and had that bubblegum flavour. Much better than my one Red Star.
I had a much bigger harvest from my Red Star last year and well, I was very disappointed. The skin is just so thick, sour and astringent, yuck. The flesh is awesome, yes…Juicy, aromatic, sweet. But so is the flesh of any wild plums. I regret planting this tree… I will probably get rid of it very soon.
