Tomato plant branches and leaves curling under

A fan helps, tomatoes are sun hogs and tend to grow thin. I use a fan even under my lights. Mine are 4 bulb 4 foot fixtures. I have 2 of them. I’m going to start some basil now. I wasn’t going to grow any I have a hybrid I keep all winter, so i always have fresh basil. I just want to try some for different flavors, and also want some Thai basil to make a red currant jam recipe I saw. It has a clove or anise type flavor.

I agree with all said above, there is a transplant shock and probably some overwatering, but they should be fine in a couple of days. They also look thin and some fertilizing would help. I can recommend Jobs fertilizer spikes for houseplants, I used them this year. One spike per cup works wonders and you do not need to worry about fertilizing any more.

Speaking of fertilizers I really like Dynamite. It is like Osmocote except it is cheaper, and last longer. Also the ratio is ideal for general use. Most plants, certainly not all, but most like a 3-1-2 NPK ratio. Foliage Pro has this ratio and so does Dynamite. Foliage Pro is great but I like the hands off approach with control release.
You can get 7 pounds for $22.00 here.

I super impressed with this stuff. I use about 1-2 balls per square inch. So you shake it once or twice. 7 pounds should be enough for 500 1 quart pots. Those cups are about 1 quart.
I use a lot of different fertilizers depending on what for. I have been having problems with blueberries in containers becoming too acidic so I’m going to use Miracid to fertilize. I think I killed Pink popcorn because the soil became too acidic. It’s hanging on. I bought another anyway, along with Raz which I have wanted for sometime. My others in containers are OK. I made the mistake of waiting to get test strips and when I did I discovered the pots were way too acidic. Almost all other acid loving fertilizer has sulfur. @subdood_ky_z6b, earlier in the year you were asking about ferts for blueberries Miracid may be an option as your soil is already acidic. Pretty sure this has no acid in it, no sulfur either.

How did you figure that? I think they’re about half that.

Thanks Drew. Since these plants will prob go in the ground by the end of the month, I may not fert them, but I’ll keep all you guys’ info in mind. The tom’s are pretty pale, but think it’s because of them being too wet. If after a few days of drying out they’re still pale, I might give them a little boost.

@Daemon2525 is right these are half quart cups (16oz). I had clear cups of the same size, but I read somewhere that roots don’t like light, so I went with these red ones.

Because I’m bad at math! Yeah those are 16 oz’s. I have often used them at the high class social gatherings I frequent.
