Tree rats!

Well, I am in a constant battle all year long but I am going to up my game with many more traps.

I used to keep a tally on kills but lost count. I have also lost count of apples that have been taken. Enclosures around all 40 fruit trees and strawberries in the spring.

Hi Mark, do you think the Little Giant trap that you use for squirrels would work for the voles that are running all around on the ground in my garden? They are tunneling around my squash plants and munching on the leaves at night. Thanks.

I’ve noticed that peanuts I’ve left in a closed trap somehow get eaten, I assume by mice in my garage. So if mice can get in and out of the trap, voles probably can too.

My wire cage trap isn’t actually a Little Giant brand - don’t remember what it is right now.

I’ve killed squirrels using wood/metal spring rat traps. The plastic claw ones are good for rats, but don’t faze a squirrel. I do nail down my rat traps, though which might make the difference. I had a all metal mini-bear trap looking thing, but didn’t secure it well enough and it vanished.

My tube trap has been taking out varmints since Feb and just recently (June) has sat set and not catching anything. (likely there is too much to eat out there)…

I have a few small game traps (all metal) but I’ve never really tried to figure out setting them… Maybe this fall…
