Sorbus torminalis, checker tree, is also edible. The flesh is like a medlar, but sour. It grows wild here in Austria in the Vienna woods, on limestone soils. It has good timber and a nice autumn color. I have attached some photos of a large, old tree in flower from a local woodland park.
Due to the smaller fruit, the potential for it being spread by birds and becoming invasive is probably much higher than with Sorbus domestica though.
