Don’t be afraid to graft! I think you’ll find that it is much easier than you think. Even if your hands aren’t that dexterous.
Stan, I do not know what rootstock it is on - the tree is from Stark Bro’s, they do not guarantee what rootstock it is on… When I purchased the tree, I asked if the rootstock root knot nematode resistant, and they said the can’t tell me)
This is why lots of people won’t buy from Stark’s.

Hi @anon89542713,
I am considering a Chinese Sweet Pit apricot for my new home orchard. It’s north of you just over the border in SE Vermont. What has been your experience with these trees in the last few years? I know I am pushing it but I love the fruit so much.
Thank you very much!
We had some fruit, not much but some, every year was something that prevented full crop. And when the latest apricot (yes, we bought third one) was ready to full production, we moved. And planted another one at new place . Will see where it goes. If what they say about global warming is true, we may need to start planting things for higher zone. I have Japanese persimmon planted as well. We are in a process of building a “house” for it for winter - with heat
.
It’s hard to give up on apricots! It is like playing the lottery around here, though.
