they were j.b’s but small ones. about the size of a pea. 1st time i ever saw them myself. i told the guys at tractor supply to ask
around if anyone else has seen them as well.
i sprayed B.T yesterday. that’s when i noticed the J.B’s, between the 2 sprays hopefully it will knock them down. didnt see any tonight when i sprayed. hopefully they moved on to something else.
thats why im so worried. i planted this orchard last year and alot of my trees are young seedlings. doesnt take much to kill them if they get defoliated. luckily i caught it early before too much damage was done.
FWIW … I usually see rose chafers before J.B.s
They’re closely related I believe and look somewhat similar.
I kill them both
are they smaller than j.b’s? maybe that’s what i saw. i saw green and assumed they were j.b’s.
They are smaller, more bronze than purple
They came to Indiana decades ago and now return every year, the first years were the worst , they strongly prefer certain plants , basal , holy cow they love that!! thousands in a basal plant. Around here they are only a problem for several weeks , arrive in summer gone before fall.
SO easy to kill…
Dr. Bronner’s or any other pure castile soap & water.
I use Bronner’s because all ingredients are organic.
A little goes a long way. All you need to do is lightly spritz/spray them. If it makes contact with them, their exoskeleton is toast. It kills them within a couple of minutes. I use it on Jap beetles & the wretched rose Chafer, as well as anything else in the garden w/ an exoskeleton.
Dead as lead!
Agreed, you just bring them in from other areas, light the old mosquito zappers from years ago, all you did was bring them into your yard…
