They are always the only dead hawks on the highways. 2 years ago; one got caught on the ground with his talon stuck in the chicken wire. The banty yard rooster was spurring the heck out of it. The rooster of the pen was biting and pecking it. The yard rooster was mad at me for rescuing it.
Caught a cow in the orchard last year. Luckily the fence got fixed promptly.
Sycamore or London Plane Tree or hybrid of the two . London Plane tree is difficult to identify but more white bark is usually seen on LPT than on Sycamore. Considering that tree is probably wild I guess , Sycamore.
" The London plane tree and the American sycamore are similar species that can be easily confused when found together. The London plane tree is thought to be a cross between the Oriental plane and the American sycamore"
Now a common site in Miami!!!
They do
I adopted one once they are way more wild than they look. For anyone else reading this Key West Chickens | Key West Wildlife Center
Those look just like the Jungle Fowl the State of Georgia introduced in South Georgia as a new species to hunt. The birds made that State look like bird brains. As they quickly moved into towns where they can not be hunted in. And are fixtures of town life now.
my cousin in central Missouri has a large feral chicken population on her property. she started feeding them and got them used to roosting in her coop. she gets good egg production from them and they get a nice safe place to sleep and good feed. they come and go as they please. everyoneâs happy. they are almost solid black and about the size of a large leghorn. skittish as all hell. she has a fenced in run mostly to protect them from predators. they easily fly right over it. they eat barely any feed as they forage for most of their diet. eggs got a deep golden yellow yolk.
My daughter and I watched a mountain beaver for an hour yesterday. We only see them a couple times a year, they are as elusive as Bigfoot. It was cutting down 4 ft sprigs of rhododendron branches that it loves to eat. My neighbor has a wild back yard and we see them foraging thru his vegetation. They live all along the drainage of our creek.
I guess itâs not out of place, we just see them so rarely itâs an unusual sight.
Feral cats have moved into our area. At least four of them. I feed them but very sparingly. Im so happyâŚI havenât caught a rat, mouse nor seen ground squirrels in 4 months! Power on little kitties! Youâre my friends.
