My aurora and indigo gem still have leaves. Tundra dropped them all in July? But recently put out 2 leaves near the soil line since it’s not 95-100 anymore

@steveb4 Yes, I have been propagating them in the way you described for many years now. I am trying to also test other ways. For example, I stuck some in early June to see if they would root. I have at least one that is still living.

I am planning to propagate enough for an acre in 2025. I will probably wait until Feb. to cut and stick those, then the plan is to plant then in the fall of 2025 or spring of 2026.

But what I REALLY need to do is figure out how I want to protect what I have growing now. I had TONS and got wiped clean this year because my attentions were elsewhere.

The ones in the photo are Tundra and Aurora.

So the photos are tundra. With it’s little tiny leaves it decided to push, aurora that’s looking a little rough, a deer took 1 bite then left it lol.

And the last 1 isn’t a honeyberry. But the poorman gooseberry i got from HBU that was about 8 inches? When I planted it this spring and it grew into a bit of a monster between spring and now

Central Europe - Slovakia. Mostly mountains and a little lowland to the south towards Hungary. I am in the northeast. The conditions for growing Haskap are good here. Region 6a is quite warm for very early varieties, which often bloom secondarily at the ends of the branches. That is why most of the planting is already made up of the Aurora variety, followed by Fialka, Vostorg, Beast, Blizzard and I also keep other very early varieties, such as Amfora and others, and they serve as mutual pollinators. This year is exceptional in that February was very warm and the vegetation was prolonged. The very early variety massively bloomed secondarily, even inside the bushes. The flowers were developed. Although it was autumn, I saw bees, bumblebees, butterflies and moths flying there. Something like that can have an impact on the future harvest.

my earliest fruiting are indigo gem and treat. the latest is strawberry sensation and solo. because our summer is so short the 1st 2 mentioned start fruiting in the beg of july and the 2 later finished fruiting 3-4 weeks later. with aurora, honeybee and the boreal’s ripening in between. from early july though early aug. i have a constant ripening of honeyberries with no lapse in between.

How’s the strawberry sensation tasting & doing? I just added one this spring…

its good. nothing really outstanding. does have a slight strawberry taste. not nearly as productive as aurora or the boreals though. i mix and freeze all of them together anyway.

I think the berries unlimited varieties are mostly a scam, I havent had any that are worth bragging about.

Which do you have Derek? Are they producing?

I may ask to see their “patents.”

I dont think there are any patents, ive never found any evidence of any besides what they claim on their website. I have blue banana and strawberry sensation. I got a few berries on sensation last year but there werent a lot so I didnt net my bush. I might not have given them as much chance as I should have, but ive got a lot on my plate during the summer.

I planted numerous Auroras, Beauty’s, Beasts, & Blizzards from Canada

The following from her.

Giant’s Heart

Strawberry Sensation

Blue Treasure

Blue Delight

Blue Banana

Blue Moose One

Honey Glen

Honey Joy

Honey Beast

Logie spoke highly of her varieties over the long term & the 4 varieties they tested in the Polish reports (blue banana, blue treasure, strawberry sensation, & giant’s heart) were also rated excellent.

I’ll post an update this summer & next as things progress.

What happened to his website, LoveHoneyberry?

From what I was told, he is in Europe starting up s Honeyberry operation

And yes, that was his site.

Do you have the manual that he & Lydia & others put together?

He sent me a copy of the old manual as a courtesy a few years ago, but I had difficultly opening it and then I didn’t save it. I wanted to buy the new version, but I can find it.

Message me your email, I’ll send you the PDF
