No this doesn’t have anything to do with judging you or to say that every extension agent is useful- they all have their own agendas based on orders from upstairs and some won’t take a non-professional’s query very seriously, but anyone can send a sample to a university plant pathologist for about $30 and I think you might get a diagnosis that is helpful. Just ask your extension agent for an address and form to send a sample.
